Cancelled!

4/3/2016 7:59:12 PM

It’s sad that for the second time, we have just witnessed another sudden cancellation from one of our beloved artists. Well, just when I thought.

It was read over the papers just today that Tom Jones has canceled his Manila tour. The 75-year-old pop music artist was forced to pull out his gig at the SMART Araneta Coliseum over a “serious illness to his immediate family.” And the word was made as fans -- mostly seniors -- were about to hit their seats at the Big Dome.

Here’s the statement from his management.

“Due to serious illness in his immediate family, Tom Jones has regretfully had to cancel his performance in Manila this evening. He extends his deepest apologies to both the organizers and the fans, who he is most sad to disappoint. There are no further details at this time.”

It’s quite sad and shitty these things happened. Considering one of his tour in the Philippine capitol was also pushed back due to his health issue, that concerns his singing tool. A few years ago, he had to cancel the concert after a throat ailment that made him lose his voice.

Upon speaking at Ricky Lo of The Philippine Star, Jones, owner of 36 Top 40 Hits including Delilah, It’s Not Unusual, Delilah, What’s New Pussycat? and Sex Bomb, said his show would have been comprised of a mixture of songs from his last three albums; presumptuously, Praise & Blame, Spirit in the Room, and Long Lost Suitcase along with his legendary chart-toppers.

That being said, event organizer Ovation Productions said there will be refunds for those who purchased their tickets at the Box Office starting Tuesday, 5 April.

That being said, health would really matter above anyone else. Who cares if he canceled two gigs at Manila? You can’t blame circumstances, especially at his old age. And if it really affects an immediate family -- his wife Linda if the rounding speculations were right -- who is he not to go on a show? Though his management denied the claim.

Besides, he’d done a lot already. Even at fault, give Jones a needed break; considering his recent musical work was dated 2015. After all, it’s not unusual to be loved by anyone. Fans may be disappointed, but heck, we could hopefully not love him less.

Get well soon.
