The Pre-take: WWE SummerSlam 2017 (Part 2)

We may have been hours away from witnessing the second's biggest WWE pay-per-view event, the one they called “the biggest party of the summer,” and coinciding with an all-heavy music fetsival in the Philippines.

The 31st edition of SummerSlam is poised to take off on Sunday evening at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York (Monday morning Philippine time), their third-straight tiume in staging the event at the said venue.  And for over the decade, SummerSlam were only situated in two venues: Barclays Center and Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Naomi will defend her SmackDown Women's Championship against Natalya this Sunday, and I think Bret's niece will bag this one home. And probably. Carmella will cash in her Mioney in the Bank briefcase and chances are Natalya will end up a transitional champion – for just a while. And that could be a perfect way to establish Carmella more as a heck of a heel in SmackDown women division.

Alexa Bliss is scheduled to defend her RAW Women's Championship against Sasha Banks. I think this has been a long overdue moment for the Bo$$ to claim the big title of their division in a big pay-per-view. She has to win this.

John Cena versus Baron Corbin should be a more intense affair, considering what happened at the last SmackDown episode going to the PPV. And this might be the litmus test on the latter as the former is known for being a sort of checking the young guns if they can impress him as the top guy. And if Cena will go to RAW, plus the fact that Baron has been garnering a lot of backstage heat, I think he will win this. Too bad, the lone wolf turned out to be a tamed pup after this one.

The match between Big Cass and Big Show will be the same test for the young giant on how long he can go as a singles competitor. And frankly, I think he will win over Show and just crash Enzo Amore and again, especially with the small guy garnering issues just like Corbin's. Poor smacktalker.

But imagine if Show turned his back on Enzo, too.

AJ Styles and Kevin Owens for the United States Championship with Shane McMahon as the special guest referee. I think this will be the show-stealer here, considering AJ and KO getting a lot of chemsitry as of late, and Shane earning the ability to prove their doubters wrong. And who knows, Shane may just throw a cheap shot on KO and that will pave the way for the Face of America facing the junior male McMahon in a battle of a bully versus the boss. No doubt that this will be a heck of a classic with AJ retaining the title.
