The Rundown Slam: PWR Live: Way Of The Champion

08/29/2018 12:37:58 PM

It's probably stupid to write a review of a live show a month after, right? But pardon as so many shenanigans have kept from from writing a lot for the pas few weeks (hey, we even got flooded here). But shrugging off excuses, let's roll with WOTC and Renaissance.

A rainy Sunday afternoon in July didn't stop Philippine Wrestling Revolution to its tracks as the show went on, and we have seen Main Maxx emerged to become the top contender for the prize of being called Kampeon Ng Pilipinas.

Also, everyone who made it to PWR Live: Way Of The Champion saw Jake De Leon took a renaissance-ish path as he challenged Ken Warren who just successfully defended his PHX Championship against Rederick Mahaba. And at least, the wrath of the elite couple/tag team champion John Sebastan and Crystal against the Naugh ty Boys and its entire quintet of friends.

The all-out-war was literally put into halt when it goes way literally all-out of hand. And Ralph Imabayashi secured another submission victory in his PWR title defense against challenger Koto Hiro.

I think Philippine Wrestling Revolution literally lived the Way Of The Champion that time. They shrugged off everything, let the show run despite monsoon rains and flooded streets, and deliver stellar matches (physicality-wise). Main Maxx appears to be the main man.

Interesting to have (and question at that time) a monster-babyface who fought for retribution and his family displayed by having two massive contests and showing up in another post-match segment.

Story-telling wise, I think the feud between John Sebastian, Crystal and the Naughty Boys plus the YOLO Twins were showcased very well here. And I think JDL vs. Panzer has gotten everyone pumped, and Mike Madrigal is always on his excellent kupal self. Why is he not getting any title shot either?
