SM SUPERMALLS waive rentals on its tenants nationwide

03/19/2020 02:59:16 PM

The tough times brought by the worldwide health scare called COVID-19 virus has practically paralyzed almost every industry, including businesses and services. Operations of several establishments were closed, while others that serve essential needs remain on a very skeletal basis.

That being said, SM Supermalls has taken a number of procedures that attempt to prioritize the safety of everyone, from mallgoers to its employees. One of its recent actions is the waiving of rentals to all tenants nationwide from 16 March to 14 April 2020. This is to offer tenants some relief during this trying time, so that they can, in turn, lend more assistance to their employees during the period of Community Quarantine.

"We share our tenants' partners' concerns at the unfortunate situation and will waive rental charges for those affected and unable to operate during this period," said Steven T. Tan, SM Supermalls President.

This support forms part of the mall business' commitment to fighting the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak, in addition to its recent announcement that it has allocated PhP100M to provide protective equipment and supplies towards hospitals for the safety of medical front liners, as they actively fight the spread of the said viral disease.
