Newsletter: Australia’s EGOISM “And Go Nowhere” Album is A Coming-of-Age record

[THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE]

With their signature blend of dream pop, shoegaze, and unflinching emotional honesty, EGOISM’s debut album “And Go Nowhere” has arrived as a powerful soundtrack to the confusing, chaotic, and strangely beautiful process of becoming an adult.

EGOISM is a three-piece independent dream pop emo band from Sydney’s Inner West made up of Scout Eastment (she/her), Olive Rush (they/them), and Adam Holmes (he/him). Known for their shared lead vocals, raw storytelling, and a sound that evokes equal parts euphoria and introspection, EGOISM has steadily built a loyal fanbase worldwide through relentless touring, critical acclaim, and a trail of heart-on-sleeve singles.

Released in May 2025, “And Go Nowhere” is an album about overcoming the paralysis of early adulthood - the fear, the confusion, the quiet victories. It explores mental health, societal pressure, and the joy of finding clarity through music. “There’s something subtly terrifying about turning 18,” the band says. “Like the cage you felt confined to has been unlocked, but you’re afraid to step out. This album is about learning to walk out anyway.”

Written and recorded over the past two years in home studios, the Sydney independent trio describe their debut album ‘as “an ode to trauma, growth, and to the unbearable anxiety of growing up.” The album debuted at #9 on the ARIA Australian Album Chart, #10 on the Vinyl Chart, and claimed the top spot on the AIR Independent Album Chart.

“Addison Road” – The Unexpected Confession
Now, EGOISM shares “Addison Road” as the album’s focus track, a late addition that immediately felt like the missing piece. “There’s nothing more exciting than forbidden love, but when that love is behind someone else’s back, it becomes a very different feeling,” says EGOISM’s Olive Rush. “This wasn’t a story I particularly wanted to share with the world, while I wasn’t the one in the actual relationship, it was the truth. As soon as we wrote Addison Road, we knew the album wasn’t complete without it.”
From the shimmering textures and hushed confessionals, “Addison Road” is an uneasy mix of desire and regret that defines so much of youth.

Other Standout Tracks on “And Go Nowhere”
Other standouts on “And Go Nowhere” deepen the album’s raw and reflective lens. “Getting  Older” is a cathartic release written after a chaotic spiral that ended with a car crash in a  graveyard; its first-take chorus vocals remain untouched on the final track. It is a snapshot of  teenage rebellion, misdiagnosed angst, and the years it takes to untangle both. Meanwhile, “If  I Was a Girl” captures a more introspective turning point. Written after Scout Eastment moved  out of home and began severing codependent ties, the track is both liberating and heavy with  memory. Inspired by the works of Anne Tyler, it draws subtle connections between place,  identity, and the grief that lingers in freedom.
EGOISM have toured with artists including Half Alive (USA), Teenage Dads, The Rions,  Middle Kids, Last Dinosaurs, Hatchie, Upsahl (USA), Eliza and the Delusionals. The band has also performed at BIGSOUND Music Festival and have been nominated for FBi’s Song of the Year and Next Big Thing, and became Australia’s triple j Unearthed’s 11th most played artist of the year.

With “And Go Nowhere” now available on all digital streaming platforms, EGOISM is set to  bring their soaring, soul-baring live energy across Asia for the very first time in the remaining  months of 2025. This marks a new chapter for the Sydney dreamo trio, and the start of something far bigger than just growing up.
