Predictions: 2013 NBA Playoffs – PART 1

1:41:08 AM | 4/19/2013 | Friday

Well, it’s been a long while since I last made my own analysis and predictions about the games around the Association. And we’re talking about the post-season party, of course. It’s time again to give my take on who and what team will be hot and not for the 2013 National Basketball Association playoffs.

MIAMI versus MILWAUKEE
Let’s kick things off with the #1-versus-#8-match on the side of the Beasts. The defending champions remained top-seeded on the entire league with a fiery 27 game-winning streak to solidify their standing. They’ll be up against a team with a bunch of X-Factored-like scorers by the name of Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings, alongside with a supporting crew that has been competing well in terms of athleticism and 3-point shooting. It’s either a sweep or Miami by 5 games.

SAN ANTONIO versus L.A. LAKERS
They’re always a clash between the playoff contenders, just like these two teams. And for the previous years, these two teams are going at it against each other, with the Lakers emerging victorious in most part of their duel. The question is can they win against San Antonio without Kobe and again, with the Spurs on the upper part of the Western Conference bracket? Plus one of Kobe’s fellow-aged rivals by the name of Tracy McGrady on a comeback cameo for the Alamo city squad. Sounds like perfect revenge. However, Tim Duncan may have the experience edge over Dwight Howard; but the problem is it may go Dwight’s way in case we’re talking about their head-to-head match-up.

I think Spurs will stand an even fatter chance by around 6 games. They just need to make sure that they will really take advantage of Kobe’s absence or else they will end up being another bunch of playoff chokers. Come to think that the Lakers’ one of their impressive wins lately came at the expense of the Spurs, a 91-86 via rally.

BROOKLYN versus CHICAGO
Both teams have perennial big game veterans, and also have a bunch of young guns. Good mixture. Except for the one thing – Derrick Rose, the 2010 MVP is still out, something that could give Deron Williams’ an even much bigger chance to win it all. But this does not means that the Bulls will put up a fight. Let’s see, but I think I will have to agree with the Bleach report’s prediction when it comes to this fight: 4-3 for the Brooklyn Nets.

DENVER versus GOLDEN STATE
The Warriors appeared to head on an another upset should Denver Nuggets’ players failed to step up for their injured personnel. Look, Danilo Gallinari’s torn ACL, Ty Lawson’s injury in right foot and Kenneth Farried’s sprained ankle will make it harder for Andre Iguadola and Javale McGee to compete. The question is can they go over their playoff hump again, something that we rarely saw in Carmelo Anthony’s stint with the Nuggets. And not to mention, Stephen Curry has been throwing long bombs more frequently this season, erasing Ray Allen’s record. Still, another exciting series to watch, with I guess Golden State in either 6 or 7 games.

Perhaps another bunch of heavyweight shits will come through on the next installment of the 2013 NBA playoff predictions.
