The shouldn't be Curious Case of Unique Salonga, IV of SPADES, and its Fandom

05/16/2018 02:26:52 PM

It was a shocker in summer; the massive displays of 'wows' and awes in mostly disbelief. After months of speculations and turmoils in the process, pop band IV of SPADES has announced the departure of their vocalist Unique Torralba Salonga. The young kid was also known for being the group's rhythm guitarist – and perhaps the second (if not first) most popular guy among the quartet aside from lead guitar player Blaster Silonga.

Now what? Why's that we are all greeted with this big-fuzz that it spawned an entire weekend (or even beyond) of discussion among a relatively-large demographic of listeners across the country? Well, there's no denying the fact that IV of SPADES has been one of the bigwigs in the current landscape, and their popularity skyrocketed to even greater heights when most people needed somebody to lean on  during the controversial times of 2017. That simply speaks why the clamor for such.

While some of us may speculate on creative and band issues (because we all like to do so, right?), I think it's best to let them take their own path instead of debating about rumors or possible inside-talks surrounding IV of SPADES. The problem with the current crop of their fandom is they cross the forbidden lines – and we mean invading their privacy and being a bunch of creepy mobs in practically every place available. Does them being 'kids' considered a valid excuse for such? Not at all times.

What's next? Unique's obviously will go somewhere else alone. And clearly, the now-three man IV of SPADES will have a lot of ground to make up. Just like any other person or collective, this young band have to grow even if it's no secret how they lost a valuable item in their sound. It could go messy or something, while at the same time, they can be innovative and evolve beyond expectations – something they had done last year.

Life goes on, as always.

Also, this is the phase where ladies will be separated from the girls. Obviously, there's always people who will actually remain their cult follower (even in just a passive way) during these tough times. On the other hand, there will also be the ones who just proclaimed themselves as 'fans' simply because of superficial showbiz-like reasons . And it can't be a wrong thing if they evolve from being just another bunch of gwapo-lookers to music appreciative people soon. Who knows: the ones we barely perceived lately as toxic might mature when the day comes after realizing how shitty they are in the past.

Let the kids move forward, because that's the only direction they can take anyway.
