Yay or Nay? The Shockers, Stunners, and Suckers of 2014 (Part 6)

1/6/2015 8:25:23 AM

I managed to write the first two parts of this series previously known as the Yay or Nay? The Shockers of 2014. But again, since almost every single news item (if not all) brought uop our level of consciousness, I decide to rename the entire thing as the Shoclers, Stunner and Suckers of 2014. Stun and Shock may be synonymous to each other but I really meant ‘shock’ in general and ‘stun’ on the positive limelight here.

We were stunned by the outcome of all the things which are considered positive in our eyes simply beacuse it brought nothing but good vibes and uplifted out spirits, at least, for a while.

But on the flipside, there are some controversial issues which should have not been brought to circulation in the first place. But still, we ended up wasting our time, effort to think, kinetic energy and even saliva simply because we are bored.

Anyway, here are the continuation of the other shockers, stunners and suckers of the the year that was... yes, 2014!

The Royal Wedding and Its “Over-Hype” | 1/2/2015 5:39:56 PM

Before this year ends, the royal wedding took place. Yes, so royal the hype was evenly present from mainstream to social media.

It all started in a marriage proposal aired live on national television four months ago.

And everything went real from there. Well, the coverage appeared like a farewell episode of a typical Pinoy teleserye.

Here’s the thing: marriage proposals are so mainstream that the media loved to romanticize every single incident. Is that helping our circulation? Indeed yes. But is it really good in a long rung? Honestly, no!

I mean, come on, they’re celebrities all right. But we don’t have to go dicking around on them like malanding fanboys and fangirls. Give them some kind of own “private moment,” will you? This sacrament, and the entirety of event is solemnly sacred and should not be taken like a hot scoop for everyone just to feed their greedy shit stomach, and I am pertaining on both social media and the mainstream networks.

This news may be good for a while, but certainly too gross to digest in a long run.

Coming Home | 1/2/2015 5:43:38 PM

LeBron comes home to Cleveland. Now what? Is this what he got for losing to the NBA Finals twice? Is this what he got after earning two more NBA MVP awards, an impressive winning percentage, and two NBA Championships?

Hey, he only wants to go home. So give him a break. It looks like he felt satisfied in his careerso far.

Just except for one goal he failed to deliver since 2006: Bringing the NBA title to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame city.

Again, give him that decision, even if it sucks that ESPN and the entire NBA media has been tailing on his “decision” dramarama since 2010. After all, his friendship with former teammate-slash-rival Dwyane Wade won’t earn a rift unlike the media conspires to do so.
