Flick Review: Citizen Jake

The motion picture revolves around the life and times of Jacobo Herrera Jr., a teacher based in Baguio City who's once known as a political blogger but slowly lost his sanity and turned himself into a psychopath without him knowing it. 

Citizen Jake is probably one of the movies that will tell you how the world is fully-filled with extremely contrasting ironies, twisted logic and perspectives, mind games and conspiracy theories; on how everything is so political no matter how hard for you to see it; and moreover, how fucked up this country has been since time immemorial.

It just so happened that we have seen them in a somewhat millenial-like approach. Yup, Atom Araullo may have been the citizen journalist here, but I have to agree with Mike De Leon's comment here – it was the same approach as that of a typical modern-day young guy who's been impulsive, arrogant, temperamental, and at times, self-righteous – but has reasons to do so. 

That probably have swayed from the ideals or typicals, but I wasn't disappointed. 

I guess defiance has its price to pay in accordance with the ironies and harsh realities of life Jake has to face, especially he is embarking of a crusade against his own family whose engulfed by greed and politics. 

Unless I have seen any other of Mike De Leon's library of flicks, I guess comparing it to the bunch is simply not fair and very nonsensical move of me.
