In 2014, the modern era of Philippine wrestling was born, and it immediately reached the public's consciousness. It spawned pools of talents, with a chunk of them aspiring to go beyond the local stages of squared circle, a couple of promotions to become their homes, and monthly events which showcased their talents to the ever-growing Filipino audience.
Fast-forward to 2024: amidst countless tales of on-record victories and off-the-stage controversies, the modern Pinoy wrestling has reached its first decade of existence, and Dexcon will have a couple of events to commemorate this milestone. This will begin with the Wrestle Bazaar at the Collective Base B2 in Greenhills, City of San Juan on 25 May 2024.
The Wrestle Bazaar lets fans meet and greet some of the best names in the industry today, right before the actual show which takes place the following evening. Some merchandise items are also up for grabs during this festivity.
On Sunday, fans are expected for a wrestling treat like no other as the current MWF Pinoy Wrestling Champion, Jake De Leon, takes on the visiting Best Technical Wrestler of the Decade-slash-former NJPW Television Champion and IWGP Tag Team Champion, Zack Sabre Jr., in an international dream match as its main event.
This edition of Dexcon will also include marquee matchups, such as the singles competition between one-time MWF Champion Fabio Makisig and Jomar. These two are known to be Tajiri's best students in the country; and following their 2v2 clash at MWF Repulika, it's now down to a mano-a-mano come May 26th.
Plus, the World Underground Wrestling Tag Team championships will be on the line as Turn Zero Kill (Saint John Martin and Ken Cifer) defends them against the legendary Pinoy Bulldog and his partner, a one-time WUW PH Tag Team Champion, Zera.
However, there's also an international tag team match set for one fall soon as The Horrors (Dr. Gore and Da Butcherman) – the deadliest tag team from Singapore – will pay a visit to meet the duo of international-calibrated talent Robin Sane and the reemerging R O M E O, in this wrestling ring, for the Singapore Pro Wrestling (SPW) Southeast Asian Tag Team belts.
But there's more than just having bloody brilliant, generations-defying, best-competition kind of action, Dexcon: Dekada will also showcase other Pinoy wrestling talents like “The God Killer” Dabid Ravena, Main Maxx, Razael, Rex Lawin, AFAM Steve, plus other surprise guests who may stole the show.
Expect this weekend full of wrestling getaway to culminate in Dexcon: Dekada, an event emanating from Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City on the final Sunday of the month (26 May 2024). Bell tolls at 6:00 PM.
