Herbalife, a premier health and wellness company, community and platform, has released findings from its 2025 Asia Pacific Responsible Supplementation Survey, revealing that Filipinos (89%) are the top health supplement users in the region, followed by Indonesia (88%) and Taiwan (86%). The survey showed that most Filipinos take health supplements to support their general health and immunity (70%), followed by for energy and focus (42%) and for better sleep or stress management (35%).
The survey, conducted online in May 2025, covered 9,000 consumers across 11 markets, including 1,000 respondents in the Philippines.
“What makes the Philippines stand out is not only the high adoption of supplements but also the importance Filipinos (94%) place in making responsible supplement decisions,” said Allan Domingo, General Manager of Herbalife Philippines. “This makes them savvy consumers, who continuously seek the latest credible, science-backed information.”
Doctor-First Culture Shapes Decisions
When deciding on supplements, Filipinos are uniquely doctor-first in their approach. More than 3 out of 4 (76%) rely on doctors and nutritionists when choosing supplements — a higher proportion than most other Asia Pacific countries. While online searches and advice from friends and family play a role, trust in healthcare professionals continues to be the cornerstone of responsible supplementation in the Philippines. This trust extends to purchase decisions as well, with almost all Filipinos (95%) acknowledging that their confidence in a supplement provider directly influences whether they buy a product. The leading factors behind this trust include doctor and nutritionist recommendations (77%), evidence of product quality controls (44%), and whether the brand is well-established (39%).
Capsules Over Gummies
The survey also underscored a strong preference for capsules among Filipino consumers. Capsules emerged as the most popular supplement format in the country, preferred by nearly 61% respondents, the highest in the region. 89% further emphasized that having their preferred dosage was extremely important in helping them stick to their recommended consumption frequency.
Prevention and Optimism in Health
Preventive health continues to be a driving force in the Philippines. Almost all respondents (97%) said that preventive healthcare is critical to their well-being. Their top health actions taken in the last year include taking health supplements (67%), making healthier food choices (65%), and engaging in more physical activity (56%). Looking ahead, 7 in 10 Filipinos (70%) feel confident they are on the right track to reach their health goals in 2025, with the Millennials (70%) and Gen Z (72%) being the most optimistic in the country.
Herbalife’s Commitment
“As Filipinos continue to embrace preventive health, Herbalife is committed to helping consumers make responsible supplement decisions by ensuring that our products are grounded in science, backed by quality certifications, and supported by trusted nutrition education,” said Domingo.
