My 25 All-Time Michael Jackson Favorite Songs (Part 2 of 4)

11:34:37 PM | 6/25/2013 | Tuesday

Most of the songs that I mentioned on my first part of this series were during Michael Jackson’s early going of his music career. Now, let’s move forward to his major breakout period – the 1980s; and the latter part of his career, 90s. You’re tuning (and at the same time, reading) my All-time favorite hits from the one and only King of Pop – Michael Jackson.

My 25 All-Time Michael Jackson Favorite Songs (Part 1 of 4)

10:47:56 PM | 6/25/2013 | Tuesday

I’ve been a Michael Jackson fan for over… hmm, (I guess) almost 20 years. I used to listen to my cousin’s 80s cassette tapes in which some of his songs were part of his records. And for almost every single time I dig Magic 89.9’s Friday Madness, I heard at least one of his songs there. Also, during the 24K weekend of the now-defunct 99.5 RT.

As my catch-up duties for being his fan, I managed to grab a copy of his compilation-album entitled King of Pop: the Philippines’ Edition (and hey, it’s original). Also, played his Bucharest concert on my old DVD player (thanks to that same cousin of mine though).

His music reached billions. He bagged selected recognition. He has a remarkable talent. And as for that, here are my all-time 25 favorite songs of Michael Jackson (in no particular order).

Alaala Ng Isang Alamat: Michael Jackson

2:27:01 PM 6/25/2013 Tuesday

Ang THIS IS IT.

The King's Ascension To The Throne.

11:54:22 PM | 6/24/2013 | Monday

It was for all the marbles. It’s more known as the do-or-die match, or sudden death, or much simpler term, “the decider.” This is the Game 7 of the Championship series of the National Basketball Association between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. The very last game of the 2012-2013 NBA season. One last game to play. One last game to watch. To witness the last two teams standing at that point.

One will rise and one will fall. One will earn a legitimate bragging right, one will lose it. One will rise in the history, while the other falls and will end their season on a broken note, as both legacies will be on the line. There’s no such thing as “records,” “statistics,” and even the so-called “winning tradition.”

Clutch Game

11:49:29 PM | 6/20/2013 | Thursday

Of all the games that went on for this year’s NBA Finals, this seems that the Game 6 was the best of them all so far.

Look, Tim Duncan played the first half as if he was not on his 37-year-old self. How about a 25-point and 8-rebound effort, for the 15 year veteran? And that stat was before halftime, by the way.

Second half, we saw the old LeBron, the more energized one, the one that really carried the team on his shoulders like the way he did on his stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers? He scored more than 20 of his 32 points came on the second half and overtime, despite committing huge mistakes down the stretch. He had a triple double to accompany his usual large number of markers.

Pambansang Bayani?!

10:45:11 PM | 6/20/2013 | Thursday

Pambansang bayani?!

Heat Wave (The Miami Heat’s Road to the 2013 NBA Finals)

1:47:39 PM | 6/20/2013 | Thursday

(Author’s note: The Miami Heat may emerged as the 2013 BA Champions if they will win the Game 7 on Thursday night in Miami, Florida (or Friday morning time at Manila, Philippines).

Miami Heat had come a long way to go before assembling big stars with talents and earned that bragging right to be labeled as one of the “champions” in the National Basketball Association. Yes, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh was the second team to be branded as “the Big Three” in the league’s recent era. 2 years after the Boston Celtics’’ own version of triumvirate was made with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen.

Defensive Dominance (The San Antonio Spurs' Run To The 2013 NBA Finals)

11:16:51 PM | 5/28/2013

Author's note: (re-updated 6/19/2013 2:32:57 PM) as of this writing, the Spurs are on the verge of winning the NBA title if they will win Game 7 at Thursday Night in Miami (Friday morning, Manila time)

They’re quiet, they worked under the radar, and more than being either the “underdog” or “dark horse,” they will just surprise you with their winning ways. Perhaps very rare number of people, if not “nobody,” talked about this team, which defied signs of aging, just to compete and win games… yes, even if they’re one of those few teams that are already been mainly treated as the “elders” at the current NBA generation. I am talking about this defense-oriented team by the name of the San Antonio Spurs.

The Accidental Art of Missing The Screening of Juana C the Movie

11:00:58 PM | 6/18/2013 | Tuesday

This would fall down as one of my biggest regrets so far for this year. I have yet to see this damn movie – Juana C. Thanks for that brief period of being broke. That screwed my plans.

As far as I can recall, on Mae Paner’s (a.k.a. the activist “Juana Change”) interview on Chinkee Tan’s program a few weeks ago, the movie was not just about her personal life, but as one of the political activists or better known as the “whistleblowers” of the society’s corrupted side. Moreover, Juana C the movie is more than the typical Juana Change videos that any YouTubers used to see.

Flick Review: Fast and Furious 6

11:14:50 PM | 6/17/2013 | Monday

All roads lead to this!

Dom’s crew is back, and they’re up for something good. Luke Hobbs, a diplomatic agent, hunted the main man Dominic Toretto and wanted him for a mission, and they will be cleared (I’m talking about pardon on their criminal records) in exchange.

That is to take down a group of skilled mercenary drivers which runs around London, Spain and other countries as well (they’re 12 in total). They have to beat Owen Shaw, even if Letty Ortiz is also parts of that supposedly big catch.

Middle Class Problems

9:51:19 PM | 6/17/2013 | Monday

Vintage: Manu Ginobili

3:11:37 PM | 6/17/2013 | Monday

Dwyane Wade’s a la ’06 effort was matched up well with Manu Ginobili’s epic act during the 2005 Finals.

He struggled on his shooting during the previous playoff games. And he’s on very usual off-the-bench roles. More than that, he’s been a huge disappointment for some of the fans, just 34 percent on his shooting and averaged just 7.5 points prior to the fifth contest.

That went on until Greg Poppovich adjusted something that went into the Argentinean’s favor.

Vintage: Dwyane Wade

2:30:51 PM | 6/17/2013| Monday

Vintage – that is the word to describe Dwyane Wade’s epic performances against the Spurs in Game 5. And for the third time though, it appeared to be another blowout game after the other for the NBA Finals as the Heat leveled their series to 2 apiece after that 106-93 victory at the Alamo city.

The Review: G.I. Joe Retaliation

7:24:21 PM | 5/30/2013 | Thursday

Retaliation, the second G.I. Joe film made by the Hasbro toys alongside Paramount Pictures, , promises to bring another bunch of excitement by being one of the most promising and “must-watch” action movies of the year 2013.

Nah, are you serious?

Statement Block

2:00:37 PM | 6/13/2013 | Thursday

Miami heat level the series last week before that huge game 3. Let’s take a lookback though. How on earth did that happened?

4th quarter story, just like any other big games during the previous part of the 2012-2013 season, both regular and post season wars.

The first three quarters appeared like a deja vu sequence for both teams in Game 1. Close fight. But if the game 1 turned in the visitor’s favor. This time, it went on the home team. We saw the last few minutes of the third quarter swindling into the side of Miami Heat. They had a 10-point lead after 36 minutes of action.
But then, just in the middle of the scorching run by the Heat, so was this emphatic block by one of their superstars in Lebron James.

3s for Game 3

2:13:41 PM | 6/12/2013 | Wednesday

How did San Antonio won Game 3 of the 2013 NBA Finals? Check out this video.

So, there you go. 16 long distance shots made by the San Antonio Spurs in this third game against the Miami Heat in the championship series. That’s already a wrecking record, as they broke the previous mark of 15 3-point shots set by 3 teams before them. And take note, they’re making those shots quite accurately, as they’re shooting 50 percent from there (16-of-32). How about that? You always hearing the guys like Mike Breen of ESPN goes “Green from downtown! Bang, that’s good!”

Thinking Minority Versus Stupid Majority

11:38:20 PM | 5/2/2013 | Thursday

Independence Day Na! Eh Ano Ngayon?!

2:26:23 PM | 6/11/2013 | Tuesday

Monday, June 10, 2013

What the hell?!

7:37:13 PM | 6/10/2013 | Monday

No Quality TV

6/10/2013 11:29:03 AM

Papasadahan ko lang ang litratong ito.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Pilipinas-Kong-Mahal/260869464047452

Ansabe naman?

“Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the Filipino public.” The dumber the show, the higher the ratings.

Sino nagsabi niyan?

Parang silang mga restaurant ... as in “all-day breakfast” ang main dish nila.

First Blood On A Cool Clutch Shot

6:31:53 PM | 6/7/2013 | Friday

All eyes were on the Game 1 of the 2013 National Basketball Association championship series between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs. What went wrong for the defending champions, and how did the Spurs steal the opener at the opponent’s home court? What the Heat have to adjust next outing and how should Spurs sustain their play?

The Heat’s players were doing well in offensive end. You talked about their shooting, rebounding and their ball movement. However, defence was definitely a huge factor on this one. Consider this thing, during the first twelve minutes of action. Miami shot well from the field but still can’t get away from the Spurs’ tempo. It may be fast, but still it was close fight between them. And it was still the game’s pace all the way until fourth quarter.

And I think the way the game played by the Spurs in the fourth canto spelled the fate of both teams. I’m talking about better plays, and capitalizing Miami’s clutch turnovers, with a few and notable of them belonged to the MVP LeBron James.

End of Reign

3:56:33 PM | 6/7/2013 | Friday

Ano ‘to?

Ah, okay. Pulitika pala ang dahilan. Ay, hindi rin pala.

“As a matter of personal honor and dignity.”

Why Sorry At The Height Of The ConsPIGracy?

2:06:28 PM | 6/7/2013 | Friday

http://gerry.alanguilan.com/

Pero ang isa pang nakababahalang pahayag di umano na galing sa kay Medina na “I smell a conPIGracy.”

Pasukan Na Naman! E Ano Ngayon?

Predictions: 2013 NBA Finals

12:10:00 PM | 6/5/2013 | Wednesday

Author’s note: This blog post is actually the 4th and final post of the “Predictions: 2013 NBA Playoffs series.”

Okay, two teams remained. They’re standing firm and tall. But only one of them will prevail and emerged victorious. So the big question: Which team will win the 2013 National Basketball Association Championship?

Tirada Ni Slick Master: 26th Awit Awards

Just My Opinion: Miami Heat versus Indiana Pacers Game 7

7:37:37 AM | 6/4/2013 | Tuesday

Game 7. The one they called the “ultimate” game for a playoff series. It serves like the ultimate test of faith, will, and determination for every single player and team. This is the game where you can’t afford to make a mistake (or you’ll die if you made one). Game 7, for all the marbles, for all the ages, for all the excitement, and bragging rights to the championship battle… no doubt about it.

For only the second time but (I think) the biggest game 7 so far in the 2013 National Basketball Association playoffs, it will be “one more clash” for the Miami Heat and the Indiana Pacers, and with two things are up for grabs: an Eastern Conference championship title, and one-way ticket to date the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals (yes, only “one way.” Either you have to win it or you’ll go home by losing).

Just My Opinion: “Tomboy”

11:35:37 PM | 6/3/2013 | Monday

Okay, so “tibo” raw si Charice.

The #iBlog9 Experience

10:30:00 AM | 6/3/2013 | Monday

One of iBlog's banner at the UP Malcolm Hall. (Photo credit: my Facebook account)
It was only late last week when one of my Facebook friends told me about this event – the 9th Philippine Blogging Summit. But there’s always a saying known as “better late than never” though, so I still pursued all the way.

Supposedly I am attending the first day, until time constraints on different matters hindered me to do so. And I almost did not make it on time last Saturday (June 1, 2013), as 45 minutes prior to the summit’s 2nd and last day, I still has yet to get my ass off from my bed. With all the adrenaline I had, I rushed all the way from the riverside of Marikina to the Malcolm Hall of the University of the Philippines... only to found myself that I still made it at fifty-five minutes after eight in the morning, Philippine Standard Time. 5 damn minutes that could have been spent on doing other matters. I still have another thing in mind, however (serious stuff,in fact).

Playback: 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa – We Own It (OST – Fast and Furious 6)

2:17:00 PM | 6/2/2013 | Sunday

Here’s something to dig for a while. Hip-hop music is now making way for the movies as the main anthem for the movies, just the case for the sixth instalment of the Fast and the Furious series.

I saw the movie twice, and on its opening and closing billboards (OBB, CBB) the music of Wiz Khalifa and 2 Chainz aired, and its title was “We Own It.”
