Goodnight!: RKO From Mid-Air

You can never deny what happened on this day in this year: It is the day where the professional wrestling’s biggest stage took over the world. And it’s called “WrestleMania.”

The Pre-Take: WrestleMania 31 (Part 3)

3/29/2015 9:01:46 PM

screengrab from YouTube

Since it’s gonna be another heck-of-an-event this coming Sunday evening in Silicon Valley (Monday morning Manila time), expect the millions (and millions!) of wrestling fans around the globe to witness the World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) 31st annual spectacle, popularly known as WrestleMania!

And what’s a WrestleMania for the SlickMaster – along with his followers (whom, by the way, are just countable by your fingertips!) without a “pre-take,” right?

Talk about predictions, just like the way we have last year.

Throwback: Phil Collins – You'll Be In My Heart (OST – Tarzan)

1/24/2015 5:23:00 PM

As a 90s baby, I grew up in selected hits by those Disney animated movies, like Elton John’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” (The Lion King), Vanessa Williams’ “Colors of the Wind” (Pocahontas), and Christina Aguillera’s “Reflection” (Mulan).

Though as an old school lover, I’ve always be a fan of that pop crooner by the name of Phil Collins, from The Groovy kind of Love, one of those songs I regularly heard when Love Radio was then having their Love Sweep; as well as my all-time top favorite (and at the same time, one of my favesing-along piece) Another Day in Paradise; and the upbeat Easy Lover, which by the way was the soundtrack of the very first WWE WrestleMania held 1984 at the Madison Square Garden.

Well, I admit I never saw the entirety of Tarzan. But I recalled way back then, as I spotted that old Tarzan commercial which had excerpts of this track titled “You’re in my Heart.”

Wrestled to Death

3/22/2015 2:15:59 PM

As I said on one of my previous posts, wrestling may be a sport with several plot twists, but taking the risks just to entertain you guys was NEVER a joke. And you can bet Daniel Orton on that (remember that joke issue with the PBA and Manny Pacquiao itself?).

What I’m talking about right now? As much as I want to include this on a previous post which tackled the accidental death of a wrestler in Mexico, I’m afraid I would have another article that is "very lengthy."

So here are three of the notable deaths inside the squared circle. As Ryan Songaila of Rappler reported:

Lookback: WrestleMania XXX

3/9/2015 6:37:18 PM

http://www.wrestlingnewsreport.com/
As WrestleMania 31 is just around the corner, let’s take a lookback on some of the hits and misses on last year’s edition of the “Superbowl of Sports Entertainment.”

Since I started following pro wrestling (specifically, WWE) in 2012, this was the third time I personally watched WrestleMania in full circles, and perhaps the same number I watched the said event at all. (I could have told “as it happens” since  TV channels aired it just a few hours to within a few days from the WM event itself, but anyway...).

He's back! E Ano Ngayon?

3/22/2015 9:29:38 PM

Death by Tragedy

3/22/2015 12:59:53 PM

Oh my goodness. This does not sit well at all. Now, what am I pertaining to? Relax. Just read this post, and you will see everything.

First things first: Think twice before you say something like “wrestling is fake,” ‘cause apparently it’s no joke getting body pain just to entertain people—especially if you are some sort of an “ex-fan.”

And sometimes, it even cost them their lives. Much to what happened on Owen Hart, Mike DeBiase and Mitsuharu Misawa.

Well, this happened just recently; and in case you want to see this clip, I am now warning you that the footage might cause you some kind of disturbia.

No More Sleepless Nights in Eastwood City

1/16/2015 2:41:45 PM

Oh, dear Eastwood City. For the first time after some nth times, we met again. It’s like last week I was around the vicinity and just chilling, remember?

The Scene Around: The Rest is Noise (Day 2)

3/18/2015 2:39:05 PM

How about an awesome way to end a month? Like spending a night out with good music, and the rest is definitely a noise you will like for the rest of your respective lives?

Talk about Indie Manila and Vandals on the Walls’ collaboration titled The Rest is Noise, held the last Friday and Saturday of February 2015. Yours truly, though, dropped by on its second leg held Saturday evening (February 28, 2015) at Route 196 in Blue Ridge, Quezon City.

Taunt After Taunt

3/18/2015 10:37:51 AM

3/16/2015 4:28:30 PM

Since some people are still having signs of a hangover from the recent Binibining Pilipinas, here’s something I’d like to share with you: a 16-minute audio clip from that epic (now-defunct) program named The Disenchanted Kingdom.

Say, this one seems timely, eh?

Bailed!

3/15/2015 4:20:15 PM

Can You Still Dig It?

3/14/2015 8:27:03 PM

I hate to sound like either Booker T’s entrance or the Iron Man Three’s closing credits clip here. First and foremost, I’m not writing this post to diss the Undertaker. In fact, he’s one of my favorite wrestlers in the World Wrestling Entertainment, especially if it’s about their biggest program named WrestleMania.

Though last year was perhaps the most surprising moment of them all—his loss to a ruthless athlete named Brock Lesnar. It was so shocking it even overshadowed the overhyped-but-underdelivered Andre the Giant memorial battle royal, as well as Daniel Bryan’s sojourn to championship.

Lahat ay gutom para sa hustisya.
Hustiysang hindi makamit ng ordinaryong nilalang.
Hustisyang nakalaan sa iilan lang.

The Scene Around: EDGES

2/24/2015 1:58:51 PM

It was an arts and music-packed evening last Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Route 196 in Quezon City, as Docdef Productions and Fringe MNL teamed up and brought EDGES possible.

It was a random speculation that was confirmed by a former-DZRH radio announcer yesterday: Mr. John Gemperle, much known as the popular radio personality Papa Jack, resigned from being a decade-long job at 90.7 Love Radio as its DJ.

Just My Opinion: Give the Divas a Chance!

3/6/2015 10:34:59 AM

Time seems to be an issue right now in the recent showings of WWE.

How on earth, considering they owned a reality show right?

Death and Overrated

3/8/2015 9:22:10 PM

Just My Opinion: The Life and Times of Jimmy Alapag in the PBA

3/8/2015 8:42:20 PM

One Wednesday evening of November 2005: It was during my early days of following the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) when I first took notice on this guy – small in the typical Pinoy basketball player size – with that quickness to put up plays for the Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals against Barangay Gineba San Miguel. The game was then slated at the packed Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City (and how can't I forget the match? I still even have the game's ticket on my archive.)

That guy was known as the “Mighty Mouse,” the Fil-American player named Jimmy Alapag.

KO’d in 14 Seconds

3/8/2015 9:57:56 AM

Last week, when I checked the latest Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) pay-per-view episode, it was a heck of catfight to cap the month of Feburary in downtown Los Angeles, California. Talk about Ronda Rousey going up for her fifth title defense against the tough top contender Cat Zingano.

But as far as the prediction of a potential all-out war goes, it was unfortunate it ended... in just a glimpse.

Gone But Not Forgotten (from an Observer's Point of View)

3/6/2015 12:31:23 PM

I’m not saying this to kiss ass or to ride bandwagon (say, I just wonder: is anyone talking about him in the first place, aside from the people whom were closely related to him, and the music community?). In fact, I admit that I’m not even an avid fan. But I admire this guy a lot; I even remember he’s one of the persons I want to meet as a youngster (unfortunately, it didn’t happen).

Who exactly is Francis Durango Magalona?

D.S.T. (Deep Serious Trouble)

3/5/2015 8:29:05 AM

Playback: Flying Down To the Stands

3/1/2015 5:19:48 PM

I’m still on a log-jammed mode, friends. As of this writing, I already made six postings and yet it’s only a third (1/3) of the proposed ones – and damn it; I’m too far behind especially when it comes to things like sports and news.

Say, it’s been a week though since yours truly dropped by at the Philippine Wrestling Revolution’s latest program titled Vendetta.

One of the matches there includes an All-Out War between the team of Mayhem Brannigan and the Apolcalypse and The Royal Flush.

Since I really have a hard time squeezing on my takes for that matter (yes, sorry, laides and gentlemen I have to delay things once again as much as I don’t want to), here’s something I’d like to share. Perhaps on all of the PWR’s events in the Philippines, this stunt was never executed.

Not until the Vendetta comes; and I am talking about Mr. Do or Die jumping off from the top stands.

The Rundown Slam: WWE Fastlane

3/1/2015 3:25:19 PM

Just merely 35 nights before the grandest stage of sports entertainment, the World Wrestling Entertainment unleashed another pay-per-view, replacing Elimination Chamber in the process. The road seemed a smooth one as WWE took on the Fastlane.

WWE Fastlane comprised nine segments -- seven matches and two face-off sequences, in front of a not-so-loudly crowd FedEx Forum at Memphis, Tennessee. I wonder how Jerry “The King” Lawler felt that time. Sorry, man.

"Joke Time"

Just My Opinion: 2015 NBA All Star Game

3/1/2015 12:13:10 PM

(This is a late post.)

Stars shone the brightest in New York City during Valentines’ Day for the 2015 NBA All Star Game. Brooklyn provided the festivities for the Friday and Saturday, while the weekend never has been completed with the staging All-Star gamne itself at the epic Madison Square Garden.

At the end, records were shattered with a lot of three-point field goals; and it was the first time the Western Conference All-Stars garnered a victory after the previous four tries at the venue, 163-158.

Say, I won’t give much emphasis on the highlight reels, and other stats since I already posted this almost two weeks late. Let the video do the talking.
